I'm the Only One for You. A program for animals that prefer to be an only pet
Being single isn't a bad thing. For some pets, they may consider it the best thing ever - and what is ultimately best for them. No other dogs to compete with for attention or to share your toys with. No other cats to dirty your litter box or hog your favorite daytime napping spot.
The pets in this program are animals that prefer, or need to be, the only pet in the household and should be adopted into a home with no other resident pets. If you're looking for just one pet, or are wanting to help that harder to adopt pet, please consider these dogs and cats that would love to be your one and only furry family member.
The reduced adoption fees for these pets are as follows:
Only dog in the home: $99
Only cat in the home: $49
Bonded Pairs & Kitten Littermates.
At times, we may have a pairs of animals that we feel are bonded to each other and, for their benefit, must be adopted together. In these circumstances a reduced adoption fee is offered. The reduced fee is 20% and, at times, an additional reduction may be made for special needs/medical needs and other circumstances to help improve the adoption options for the pets.
Adopting kittens in pairs can be desirable, although it is not the policy of The Rescue Crew to “require” kittens to be adopted in pairs. However, It is beneficial to the kittens continued socialization and enrichment. While we don't require kittens be adopted in pairs, we try to encourage this practice by offering a reduced combined adoption fee of 20% for littermates or a pair of kittens.
I've Been Waiting So Long. A reduced adoption fee offered for pets who've been in rescue for a lengthy period.
Sometimes there isn’t any rhyme or reason as to why some animals get adopted more quickly than others. Even amazing pets can sometimes get overlooked. Pets who have been awaiting adoption longer than others and, in an effort to send them more quickly to the forever home they deserve, their adoption fee is often reduced.
Special adoption fees are $199 for dogs and $99 for cats, not including tax.
Foster-to-Adopt Program.
The Foster-to-Adopt (FTA) program offered by The Rescue Crew is a great way to determine if one of our cats or dogs is a good fit for your family before you make the leap to officially making them a furry family member.
Why Should You Consider Fostering to Adopt? The Rescue Crew FTA program is designed to help make the transition easier for you, your family members and the animal by given the pet time to relax in your home and begin to show you their true personality.Additionally, we know that certain types of pets are in high demand, be they a specific breed, age or other unique characteristics - and you may have already experienced a missed adoption opportunity of a rescue pet because there were multiple interested adopters. Our Foster-to-Adopt program will essentially give you first dibs on the pet and help you avoid the stress and hassle of trying to be the first to get your adoption request submitted for the type of animal you're hoping to adopt.
Our Hospice and Special Needs Program offers significantly reduced adoption fees for:
Hospice Pets. These could be terminally ill dogs or cats, of any age, that are in our local shelters and facing euthanasia. It could also simply be senior pets that, given their condition and medical assessment, we suspect are in their twilight. These pets deserve a loving home to live out their final days.
Special Needs Pets. These are pets that may have a condition that will require ongoing medication to keep under control, require a special diet, or other type of care that could be an added expenditure for a household. To help these pets find adoptive homes we reduce their adoption fees to help offset the potential extra cost of care.
The adoption fees for these special pets are:
Hospice Dog: $99
Hospice Cat: $49
Special Needs Dog: $199
Special Needs Cat: $99
Barn & Business Cats.
Ideally, we would love for all to be living happily in a home as a spoiled lap cat. However, we don’t live in an ideal world. Some cats just prefer to not live this way.
By adopting a Working/Barn Cat you will be saving the life of one of the most euthanized animals in shelters for want of a home. It's a win-win, because your possessions will be proteted from rodents and the cats get a renewed chance at life; a life the way they prefer to live it.
All of the cats in this program are fully vetted and spayed or neutered before they are made available in the program. By us taking care of this prior to placement, there is less risk of fighting between cats, less liklihood of marking and concerns with the cats roaming. This helps make it easier for you to provide for the cat(s). The Rescue Crew does not adopt out cats as Working/Barn Cats if they are suitable to be household companions.
There is no better way to get to know your new dog or puppy than to sign up for training immediately after bringing your new friend home. Responsible ownership starts with building a bond between you and your dog; learning respect and setting expectations. A professional dog trainer can help you learn how to build this relationship, or just brush up on your dog training skills. Also, establishing a relationship with a good trainer is a great resource for you as your dog grows up or should any behavior issues develop down the road.
Because The Rescue Crew feels strongly about this process, that we will send you $50 if you participate in our Training Reimbursement Program.
How Does it Work? Simply take your dog to, and complete a minimum of Level 1 Obedience at the professional trainer of your choice within 90 days of adoption. Once you complete your training, fill out the reimbursement form and provide proof of training completion, a check for $50 will be mailed to you.
